Make an Ebook with Adobe Acrobat Professional

Ebooks are basically the same as an ordinary book consisting of a series of sentences and several pictures to explain the writing. Book manuscripts are made using word processing software, then made layouts and then printed in printing. Similar to making books, the manuscripts that will be used as ebooks are created using word processing software, then make layouts and "print" them in digital form. So any writing when typed using word processing software (CorelDRAW, MS Word, Notepad, Worpad, Pagemaker, etc.), then the file can be called an ebook. One software that can be used to create ebooks is Adobe Acrobat Pro.

Why Adobe Acrobat Pro ....?!
Each software has a different file extension, for example MS.Word file type has the extension .doc / .docx, CorelDRAW has a .cdr extension, or Adobe Photoshop has a .psd extension. Well, Adobe Acrobat Pro has pdf extension. PDF stands for Portable Document Format. The PDF format supports all objects can be text, images or vectors. This format is widely used for files downloaded from the internet. We may often use or view text files that use PDF format. PDF format is not only for text but can also be for image formats.

The advantage of using PDF format
This file can be opened in all computer operating systems such as Windows, Macintosh, Linux, the important thing is there is an opening program, Adobe Reader. The .pdf format has a good conversion method so that the resulting file is very small with good quality. In Adobe itself, saving a file in .pdf format is the same as saving a file in .psd format (Photoshop file), so we can edit it if needed. Because files with a .pdf extension can be opened in a variety of computer operating systems, so it is very suitable when used as an ebook.
To create Adobe Acrobat Pro files (of course with the extension. Pdf). we must first install the Adobe Acrobat Pro program. If it's already installed on the computer, try looking at Printers and Faxes. In Windows XP, click the Start Menu or press the Windows key on the keyboard> Settings> Control Pannel> then select Printers and Faxes.

Now look at the Printers and Faxes window, if there is a printer icon with the writing Adobe PDF, it means that Adobe Acrobat Pro is already installed on the computer. See if there is an Adobe PDF icon?



How to make a file with pdf extension

A. Step 1

First step;
Create an article with CorelDRAW, before setting the paper size first, here I use A4 size, create a few pages by adding pages to the Document Navigator, After completing we create a PDF file with the command in Menu Bar> File> click on the Publish To PDF command ...



Name the file and click Save, then wait for the process to run,



Second way;
Create an article / article (with CorelDRAW, wordpad, MS.Word, Page maker or other word processor) then print the results of the writing with the Print button massage on the Standard Bar;



Select the type of print, the image below, I typed using CorelDRAW, each program has a different dialog box display. Change printer settings with an Adobe PDF printer;



Click Preferences ... select A4 paper type according to the page we made before, and click OK;




then select the Print Preview button, see if the page is as we expected, if it feels right click the Print button;



And we will be taken to the Save PDF File As dialog box. Determine where we will save the file and what name, then click Save;



This dialog box will appear during the process of creating a .pdf file.



Third Way;
Another way to create a .pdf file is to open the Adobe Acrobat Pro program first, then select the Create PDF menu, then select the New menu. You can also use the shortcut Ctrl + N.



Open dialog box will appear, we just need to determine which files will be made in PDF. Continue to click Open. Next we just have to be patient waiting until the PDF file creation process is complete

* Note:
The three ways above have the same results, the difference is for the second way we don't need to open the Adobe Acrobat Pro program first, while the first and third ways we have to open the Adobe Acrobat Pro program first to modify it.

B. Step 2
If you use the second method, after finishing creating the .pdf file, the Adobe Acrobat Pro program will directly open. Okay, now we will modify the contents of the ebook.

Bookmarks
Bookmarks function as a way (link) to go to another document page and can also close the Adobe Acrobat Pro program (depending on the command given).
In this tutorial we will use bookmarks as a table of contents. It means to make it easier for people who open the ebook that we made if they want to go / open a page / topic just by clicking on the title.

1. First of all find the text that will be used as the title of the table of contents of the writing that we make. Block the text and then right-click, then select Add Bookmark. You can also use the shortcut key Ctrl + B.





2. Now the bookmarks panel (left) will open. There will immediately appear text that has been blocked into the title of bookmarks. To change the name, place the mouse on the title then right click, choose rename. Or press F2.



3. If you want to make a sub menu we use the same method. The trick is to click on the text that will be made sub menu, then after the text is in bookmarks, you just use the drag and drop method, click hold on the title and then drag and enter the main title.





4. To delete a bookmark, click on the trash can icon in the bookmarks panel on the top left or by right-clicking on the title of the bookmark you wish to delete then selecting delete.




Security
Security functions for security, security is usually in the form of a Password Security, how to set it as follows, on the Menu Bar> select> Advanced> Security> Show Security Properties



In the Security Method select Password Security;



In the following dialog city we can set security by giving a password to the pdf document that we have created, for example we will provide security to our pdf document so that it cannot be edited and copied in the text or image, perform the steps as below;



And the final step is to press the Save button to save changes to our PDF document;
