Difference between Vector Art and Vexel Art

Advances in digital technology continue to bring digital artists to compete in producing stunning works. Industrial players are increasingly benefiting, in addition to being more flexible in their application in the media, the choice of forms of work also varies. There are so many terms that we often hear relating to art and digital, from digital art, pixel art, vector art, vexel art, digital imaging, etc.

In this article, I will discuss a little about the difference between vexel art and vector art. For ordinary people, it is difficult to distinguish between vector art and vexel art. Technically it does require patience, patience, and middle to upper-class digital imaging techniques. The applications used can usually be Adobe Illustrator, Freehand, Corel Draw, Adobe Photoshop. Vexel and vector art are not genres or styles, but rather media art. When we talk about the media, then in our minds we will think, how to make it? with what application is the work being made?

In fine arts, especially painting now is not only limited to conventional media using drawing media such as oil paints, pencils, watercolors, acrylic paints and others. Artists have been given the freedom to be creative, can remain in the path of pure art, digital art, or even a combination of both. Tools in digital applications are almost the same as conventional media, there are techniques with brushes, air brushes, and other tools that are adopted from conventional media.

As I mentioned above. The basis of vexel art and vector art is how to replicate a photo / picture into a more stunning work. The patience meant in making vexel works and vector art is a game of point, line, path, color, shadow, highlight that can't be wrong. In addition, the use of many layer systems requires creators to be more observant in organizing these layers.

Then what is the most basic difference, between the two?

Pure vector art vector works created using vector base applications or vector based applications such as Adobe Illustrator and the like. And the final result of the work is also a vector. (Vector layer)

Whereas vexel art is usually a pixel / bitmap / raster layer with an application such as Adobe Photoshop. The end result even though it looks similar to vector art, it will eventually become a bitmap image. In addition, vexel art usually looks more detailed and smooth from the finishing side, even almost the same as a photographic image. So which one do you want? Vector art or vexel art? Depend on requirement.
